WEST LIBERTY COUNCIL: Runkle Street to be chip-sealed

West Liberty Village Council accepted an estimate to chip and seal Runkle Street during a recent regular meeting.

Ray Hensley Inc. will perform the work, estimated to cost $10,625. Council will make use of its county sales tax allocation to pay for the project.

Police Chief Shane Oelker reported much positive feedback from a recent crack on speeding along east Baird Street. Motorists are slowing down, Chief Oelker said.

The police department has received an application for a part-time officer. Chief Oelker interviewed the candidate Tuesday.

Council reminds residents the five-year, 2.5 mill levy that appears on the November ballot is for current operating expenses, and includes no new money.
