MARYSVILLE — A Marysville woman was killed Thursday morning when the bicycle she was riding was struck by a car on County Home Road near County Road 113.

Troopers of the Marysville Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol report Martha K. Shaw, 57, was operating a westbound bicycle about 11:47 a.m. on County Home Rd., when a westbound 2003 Mercury Sable car struck the bike.

Ms. Shaw was transported to the Union County Memorial Hospital in Marysville where she was pronounced dead.

The car’s driver, Cydney Troyer, 57, also of Marysville, was not injured.

The bicyclist was reportedly wearing a helmet. Alcohol is not suspected as a factor.

Troopers were assisted by the Marysville Fire Department and the Union County Sheriff’s Office.

The crash, which resulted in the eighth traffic fatality in Union County this year, remains under investigation.

Separate crashes on Aug. 28 and Aug. 30 in the county claimed Jaycob Fox and Ronald Price, respectively.
