New stellar features to be unveiled at Holland Theatre
The new clouds and stars over the Holland Theatre’s auditorium shown in this photo taken Tuesday will be unveiled at a Friday open house beginning at 6 p.m. for anyone who contributed to the project and continuing with open tours from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. (EXAMINER PHOTO | REUBEN MEES)
For the first time in many decades the stars will again shine bright over the auditorium of the Holland Theatre.
After two years of raising money through the Holland Stars cam- paign, and a few months of ceiling repair and painting work earlier this year, new lighting machines that project clouds and stars onto the ceiling were installed this week.
And local residents will get a chance to see the result of their con- tributions at an unveiling event Friday evening.
“We wanted to acknowledge the local commitment and all the peo- ple who helped make this happen,” Holland board president Kris Swisher said.
The event begins at 6 p.m. for those who either received a person- al invitation for being among the individuals who made $1,000 dona- tions to sponsor a star, or the repre- sentatives of classes or larger organ- izations which, as a group, spon- sored a star. The event will continue with open tours of the theater from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.
