MARYSVILLE —A correction officer at the Ohio Reformatory for Women was killed Friday when his pickup truck struck a maintenance building on the grounds of prison.

Ronald Price, 51, of Marysville, was driving an eastbound 2010 Ford F-150 truck about 5:20 p.m. when it went off the right side of an access road and struck the building, troopers of the Marysville Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol report.

Mr. Price was pronounced dead at the scene by representatives of the Union County Coroner’s Office.

Reports indicate the incident occurred outside of the prison’s secured area.

The driver was wearing a seat belt. Neither alcohol nor speed are suspected as factors, troopers said.

Troopers were assisted by the Marysville Fire Department and the Union County Emergency Management Agency.

The crash, which resulted in the seventh traffic fatality in Union County this year, remains under investigation.
