Bellefontaine may, for the first time ever, employ a code enforcement officer if a Safety Committee recommendation garners approval of the City Council.
Safety Chairman David Haw passed the recommendation along to the Finance Committee, upon which he also serves.
“The Safety Committee and I think it is a position we need,” Mr. Haw said. “Whether or not we fund it next year is up to the Finance Committee and the rest of council.”
Finance Chairman Mark Fissel announced to the council draft versions of next year’s budget could include funding for the position.
Mayor Adam Brannon and Service-Safety Director James Holycross envision using the new position for more than just code enforcement.
