MARYSVILLE — Officers of the Marysville Police Department arrested Marysville resident Danny R. Johnson, 37, early Thursday morning in connection with a string of arson fires that were set over the past month.
The suspect’s arrest was made possible through an ongoing surveillance operation of the area.
Thursday, he reportedly was observed lighting cloth on fire at his 324 W. Eighth St., address. Mr. Johnson then threw the cloth out the window of the home.
Mr. Johnson was placed under arrest and was charged with arson, a fourth-degree felony. He is being held in the Tri-County Jail.
Police and local fire officials have investigated a number of suspicious fires on west Eighth Street since July 29. One of the fires destroyed a house at 314 W. Eighth St., and fire crews also were dispatched to two separate shed fires in the area.
In two other incidents on west Eighth Street, callers reported seeing a suspect light a towel or cloth on fire and then throw it into a yard or near a deck.
