‘Examiner’ office adjusts Saturday hours for one week
The business office of the Bellefontaine Examiner has adjusted its Saturday hours this week only from 8 to 10 a.m.
Logan County Democrats slate picnic
The Logan County Democrats will hold their annual picnic at 6 p.m. Saturday at the American Legion Picnic Pavilion along north Troy Road.
Guest speakers include Ed FitzGerald, candidate for Ohio governor, and Rep. John P. Carney, state auditor candidate.
Cost is $10 per person. Brats, hot dogs and beverages are provided.
Attendees are asked to take a covered dish to share.

Garlic festival approaches
Jandy’s Farm hosts its sixth annual Garlic Harvest Celebration beginning at 1 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18, at the 3624 Township Road 136 farm.
Twelve varieties of garlic will be available along with food and products from several other local vendors.
Bob Lucas and the Hedgehog String Band will perform and author and farmer Gene Logsdon will be on hand.

Mystery bus tour planned
Jennings Farley Funeral Home and Donna’s Excursions are sponsoring a mystery bus tour from Bellefontaine to Van Wert on Nov. 7. The tour will include admission to The Ohio State University Marching Band Concert at Niswonger Performing Arts Center of Northwest Ohio. Travelers will make a mystery stop on the way to the show followed by dinner.
The bus will depart at 11:30 a.m. from the Bellefontaine Wal-Mart and should return around 11 p.m. Cost is $65 per person and includes motor coach, admission to the mystery event, dinner and the OSU marching band concert. For more information or to register call Donna Voorhies at 599-2501.
Senior center hosts antique appraisal
The Logan County Friendly Senior Center, 934 S. Main St., hosts an antique appraisal from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17.
Four local antique dealers and appraisers will evaluate antiques for $5 each, for a limit of three items.
Lunch will be available.
