NEW UPDATE: Back-To-School Notes

The first day of school for Benjamin Logan Schools students in grades 1-12 will be Wednesday, Aug. 21.

Back-To-School

Kindergarten orientation will be Wednesday, Aug. 21, and Thursday, Aug. 22.

The first day of school for kindergarten boys will be Friday, Aug. 23, and the first day of school for kindergarten girls will be Monday, Aug. 26.

For more information on registering, call the high school, 592-1666; middle school, 599-2386; or elementary school, 592-4838.

The elementary school hosts a “Meet the Teacher” night from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Monday in the school commons. Anyone who ordered school tools boxes may pick them up at that time.

The middle school hosts a fifth-grade orientation from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday. Open house will be from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. the same evening for grades 6-8.

The high school hosts “Back to School” event from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday for grades 10-12. Students may pick up their schedules, pay their fees, purchase parking passes and be able to find their classrooms.

Freshman orientation is 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday.

Student fees are as follows: high school, $70; middle school, $60; and elementary school, $50. Fees can be paid prior to school by contacting the school offices.

Lunch prices are: high school/middle school $2.60, elementary $2.35, reduced lunch 40 cents, extra milk 40 cents, and adult lunch $2.85. Ala Carte items are available in each building. Breakfast will be served each day at the middle school and elementary School at the cost of $1.30 and 30 cents for the reduced price.

School fees and student lunches may be prepaid at spsezpaybenjaminlogan.com.

School closings and/or delays will be announced through the district call notification system, local media and at www.benjaminlogan.org.

Indian Lake

Indian Lake High School registration for new students is under way between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. weekdays.

Take proof of residency, birth certificate, Social Security card, immunization records, and any applicable custody papers The student’s last report card is requested. Registration forms are available in the office now.

Freshman orientation is at 6:30 p.m. today in the high school auditorium. Freshman students may pick up their class schedules and pay school fees after the session.

Upperclassmen may pick up their schedules starting Thursday between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m.

The first day of school for students is Wednesday, Aug. 21. A new schedule is being implemented this year, with school starting at 8:10 a.m. and dismissing at 2:49 p.m.

Indian Lake Middle School hosts back-to-school activities Monday, Aug. 19, with fifth-grade orientation beginning at 5:45 p.m. in the gym.

Open house for all students is from 6 to 7 p.m. Schedules for seventh- and eighth-graders will be available at that time.

Fifth- and sixth-grade class lists and all supply lists are posted at the school now. All grade-level fees are $40.

Progress Book will not be available until September.

Bellefontaine

Bellefontaine High School announces the following dates for schedule distribution to students between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. each day:

• Freshmen — Thursday.

• Sophomores — Friday.

Schedules will not be distributed earlier than the dates listed.

Parking tags also will be available to purchase for $5 each during these dates. Students will be required to provide license plate number and make/model of the vehicle when purchasing a tag.

Bellefontaine Elementary School hosts an open house Friday at the new facility, 1001 Ludlow Road, with second grade from 5 to 5:30 p.m., first-grade from 5:30 to 6 p.m. and kindergarten from 6 to 6:30 p.m.

During the school year, the elementary school will start at 9 a.m. and dismiss at 3:30 p.m. Doors will open at 8:40 a.m. and no student may be dropped off before that time.

For incoming kindergarten students, only kindergarten boys will attend their first day of school Tuesday, Aug. 20, while only kindergarten girls will attend Wednesday, Aug. 21. All kindergarten students will attend school Thursday, Aug. 22.

Bellefontaine Middle School hosts an open house on Monday at the new school building, 1201 Ludlow Road.

Students may pick up schedules, locate lockers, tour the building and meet teachers at the following times: eighth-grade, 5 to 6 p.m.; seventh-grade, 6 to 7 p.m.; and sixth-grade, 7 to 8 p.m.

Parents with students in more than one grade, should attend the later scheduled time. For example, if you have a 6th- and 8th-grader, attend the 7 p.m. open house.

Overflow parking should use the new elementary parking lot and walk the path to enter the middle school. Do not park in the newly landscaped areas.

Bellefontaine Intermediate’s “Back-to-School” Night is from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday for students and their families to meet teachers, visit classrooms, drop off supplies, check bus schedules, pay school fees and add money to lunch cards.

The intermediate building, located at the former middle school, 509 N. Park Road, will house grades 3 through 5.

Riverside

Riverside Local Schools hosts its annual Pirate Pride Picnic from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Monday at the school, offering hot dogs, lemonade, games and door prizes.

Ohio Hi-Point

The first day of classes for juniors at Ohio Hi-Point Career Center is Wednesday, Aug. 21, and for seniors is Thursday, Aug. 22.

Calvary Christian

The first day of school for Calvary Christian School students in grades K5-10 is Aug. 27.

The K4 students assigned to Tuesday and Thursday will begin school Aug. 27, while the K4 students assigned to Wednesday and Friday will begin Aug. 28.

An open house is slated for 7 to 8:30 p.m. Aug. 22 in the auditorium of Calvary Baptist Church.

Students who will be driving to school will be required to provide the license plate number and make/model of their vehicle.

In addition, a school-wide fun night is planned for 5:30 p.m. Sept. 6 at the Calvary Fields on north U.S. Route 68.
