Jeremiah L.M. Stowers, 24, of 7358 Foster St., Russells Point, was charged with felony theft relating to an alleged theft from Gene’s Marine Bait & Tackle, 7300 Edison St., Russells Point.
Deputies responded to the business Wednesday afternoon in reference to a theft of at least eight boat motors valued at more than $2,000 and the theft of a flatbed trailer.
They spoke with the owner, Betty Tierney, who is also Mr. Stowers’ grandmother. An employee had discovered the items missing that morning.
The stolen items were located at a scrap metal yard in Bellefontaine. Photos of the transaction at the scrap yard showed that Mr. Stowers was a passenger in the vehicle, deputies said.
Mr. Stowers was arrested and transported to the Logan County Jail about 11 p.m. He denied stealing from the business.
