Garrett M. Pickering, 21, address at large, Bellefontaine, was charged with felony theft, breaking and entering and violating a protection order Wednesday following a burglary complaint Saturday.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to 1274 Township Road 204, Bellefontaine, about noon Saturday to meet with Mr. Pickering’s father, Miles Pickering. He reported that a 2011 Jeep had been taken from a body shop located at this address.
The jeep was owned by Michael K. Durnell of Bellefontaine. The vehicle was located in Bellefontaine a short time later.
Deputies identified Garrett as a suspect in this case and filed for a warrant for his arrest.
About 9 p.m. Wednesday, deputies and officers of Bellefontaine Police Department arrested the defendant when he was located walking in the area of Chillicothe Avenue and Evansville Street.
The elder Mr. Pickering previously had filed a civil protection order against his son. Garrett was transported to the Logan County Jail.
