KENTON — Hardin County recorded its third fatal accident in the past month Wednesday evening when a Roundhead woman was killed in a single-car crash in the western portion of the county.
The victim was identified as Sandra Schneer, 60, of Roundhead.
According to a release from Sheriff Keith Everhart’s office, Schneer was driving southbound on Ohio 117, about 7 p.m., when her car went off the left side of the roadway and struck a tree north of County Road 180.
The driver had to be extricated from the vehicle through mechanical means by the Roundhead Fire Department.
She was transported to Lima Memorial Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival, according to the report.
Deputies said there had been a light rain in the area at the time of the accident.
Schneer was the third traffic fatality in the county in the past two weeks. Earl Steinle was killed in an accident on U.S. 68 on July 22 and earlier this week, Damien Howard was killed in an accident on County Road 75.
