More credit card fraud reported

Adam and Felicia Tracey, 229 N. Main St., West Mansfield, reported Monday to deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office that their credit card number had been used without their permission for a $119 transaction at a store in Michigan.

The couple had been contacted by their bank’s fraud department in reference to the unusual purchase, and they contacted deputies after hearing about the influx of credit card fraud in the West Mansfield area, as previously reported in the Examiner.

Since June 10, deputies have received several reports from West Mansfield area residents that their debit and credit card numbers were used for purchases they did not authorize. Investigation into the matter has revealed that these cases appear to be the work of an Internet hacker.

• Colt Blair, 1411 State Route 533, Zanesfield, reported Monday that his credit card had been used for unauthorized purchases totaling $359.44 at a Michigan gas station.

He was contacted by his bank about the unusual purchases and he canceled his credit card.
