Soldier, county native surprises family at Cedar Point

SANDUSKY — Gunnery Sergeant Jason Cooper, a Logan County native, hadn’t seen his family for seven months and wanted to give his family the surprise of a lifetime.

Unbeknownst to his wife, Lisa, and children, Ethan, 12, Jaydan, 9, and Mikayla, 5, Gunnery Sgt. Cooper contacted Cedar Point, one of the family’s favorite vacation spots, to arrange an American Heroes Celebration with his family as the guests of honor July 11.

The Cooper family was called on stage to be honored by the audience and view a taped message from the gunnery sergeant, who then surprised them by walking on stage in person.

The family spent the next day at the park celebrating his 15-day return home.

Gunnery Sgt. Cooper is a son of Leona Cooper and brother of Tiffany Cooper and Amanda Peters, all of Bellefontaine.
