Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department arrested a Bellefontaine man following a suspected theft from Logan County District Library that ended in a brief foot chase and struggle.
Police responded to Knowlton Library, 220 N. Main St., about 7:40 p.m. Thursday on a report of a suspect trying to steal money from a cash drawer.
Responding officers identified the suspect as Timothy Clark, 54, of Bellefontaine. Mr. Clark is also believed to have been involved with thefts from the library July 8 and 9.
As they approached the suspect in the library lobby he fled outside. He was caught by officers for a brief time and held against an outside brick wall, but the suspect wiggled out of his shirt and escaped to the rear of the library before he was spotted again near the 200 block of north Madriver St.
A foot chase ensued and the suspect was eventually caught along Madriver Street and arrested. He was charged with two counts of thefts, vandalism and resisting arrest and lodged in Logan County Jail.
