Man arrested after foot chase in Lakeview

Colby Harris, 24, of 8253 State Route 366, Russells Point, was charged with obstructing official business, resisting arrest and persistent disorderly conduct following an incident Monday evening.

Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a report of an assault at 580 W. Lake St., Lakeview, about 10:30 p.m. The caller then advised the suspect left the residence in a vehicle and drove onto Main Street and then behind several businesses in Lakeview.

When deputies located the defendant, he reportedly took off on foot and led deputies on a brief foot chase in the area. Once he was stopped, he was resistant and combative with deputies. An off-duty West Liberty officer and an off-duty Russells Point officer reportedly arrived on the scene and helped to restrain Mr. Harris.

He was transported to the Logan County Jail, where he reportedly head-butted a wall. He was then placed in a restraint chair.

Deputies returned to the 580 W. Lake St., and individuals at that address declined to file assault charges against the defendant.

Domestic violence charges filed

Richard Whiting, 45, of 650 S. County Road 23, Quincy, was charged with domestic violence following an incident Friday evening at his residence.

Deputies responded to the home about 7:15 p.m. and spoke with his live-in girlfriend, Patty Vickers, 48.

She told deputies the defendant struck her in the head, pushed her into a chair and had thrown a beer can at her, causing a cut by her eye. He then took off walking on C.R. 23.

Deputies found Mr. Whiting walking along the roadway. After taking the defendant back to his residence, he was arrested and lodged in the Logan County Jail.
