Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office arrested an area teen during the course of their investigation into numerous vehicle break-in complaints and several vehicle thefts that occurred in DeGraff early Wednesday morning.
Tyler Oakley, 18, address at large, has been charged with the unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and was lodged in the Logan County Jail about 2 a.m. today.
A vehicle was reported stolen from a residence on Russell Street, and another vehicle was reported stolen from a home on Mill Street.
Deputies also note that during the investigation, a stolen vehicle was recovered in DeGraff that had been taken from the Bellefontaine area.
A total of 14 vehicle break-ins occurred in the areas of Koke, Blue, Mill and Miami streets in the village.
One of the residents, Amber R. Wilson, 311 Blue St., reported about 3 a.m. Wednesday that a key ring with several keys had been taken from her vehicle. She said her boyfriend had observed three suspects in her vehicle parked outside the residence. The suspects then reportedly ran from the scene.
Another resident, Elizabeth Giles, 225 N. Koke St., reported that a GPS, change, cigarettes and a car charger had been taken from her vehicle and her boyfriend’s vehicle.
Deputies continue to investigate the incident and further charges are pending.
Earlier this month, the defendant also was charged with felony theft after he allegedly took a car from a residence in Lakeview.
