Matthew Haley changed his mind again.
The 28-year-old Bellefontaine man withdrew a motion Wednesday to take back guilty pleas he'd previously entered to charges of rape, a first-degree felony, and gross sexual imposition, a third-degree felony, and was sentenced by Logan County Common Pleas Court Judge Mark S. O'Connor to 15 years to life in prison.
The defendant admitted May 28 to sexually assaulting a young girl — four years old at the time of the incident — but entered a motion to withdraw that plea ahead of his scheduled June 3 sentencing hearing.
A hearing on that motion was set for Wednesday, but defense attorney Bridget Hawkins told the court Mr. Haley contacted her on Tuesday and said he wanted to withdraw the motion to withdraw and move forward with sentencing.
