City resident transported after crash

Jordan Sosby, 18, of Bellefontaine, was transported by Macochee squad to Mary Rutan Hospital for non-incapacitating injuries sustained in a two-vehicle crash about 4:30 p.m. Friday.

Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office report he was operating a northbound car on U.S. Route 68 at Township Road 199 when he struck the rear of a northbound minivan operated by Mark E. Watkins, 22, of Bellefontaine, that had stopped in traffic.

Mr. Watkins did not report any injuries.

Mr. Sosby was cited for failure to maintain assured clear distance ahead. Mr. Watkins was cited for driving without an operator’s license.

Damage was disabling to both vehicles. Both drivers were wearing their seat belts.

 

Drivers escape injuries in semi crash

No injuries were reported in a crash involving a semi-tractor trailer and two other vehicles about 4:25 p.m. Friday on U.S. Route 33 just west of State Route 274.

Jay W. Haman, 62, of Lima, reportedly was operating an eastbound car when he drove left of center and struck a westbound semi operated by Travis Carter, 45, of Joshua, Texas. The car then drove off the north side of the road and into a ditch.

A third vehicle operated by Richard Nicolosi, 39, of Delaware, Ohio, that had been driving behind Mr. Haman was struck by a tire from the semi.

Damage was disabling to the car and light to the semi’s trailer and to the third vehicle.
