NEW UPDATE: Russells Point teen dies after crash

ST. PARIS — A Russells Point teen died after colliding head-on with a loaded dump truck Friday afternoon.

Thomas Hunter Valentine, 17, was flown by CareFlight to Miami Valley Hospital where he died at 12:42 p.m. Saturday, deputies of the Champaign County Sheriff’s report.

Thomas Hunter, an Indian Lake High School student and member of the football and track teams, was southbound in the 2000 block of north State Route 235 about a mile north of U.S. Route 36 when his sport utility vehicle went left of center and collided with the dump truck.

Both motorists were wearing their seatbelts and the driver of the dump truck, whose name was not available, was not injured, deputies report.

St. Paris Fire and EMS Department responded to the scene.
