Timothy Lewellen, 53, of 308 W. Sandusky Ave., was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and cited for leaving the scene of crash after a two-vehicle collision at Sandusky Avenue and Detroit Street around 11:20 a.m. Friday.
He was driving eastbound in an sport utility vehicle which hit the rear of a car operated by Julie A. Whitehead, 49, of Bellefontaine. He then drove southbound on Detroit and parked behind Moore’s Cafe, 111 S. Detroit St. He was found inside the bar and taken into custody.
According to officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department, he was unsteady on his feet.
A breathalyzer test recorded his blood alcohol content at 0.197 percent, more than twice the legal limit.
He was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
Damage was minor in the crash.
