Jorrell A. Johnson, 31, of 501 Walker St., was charged Sunday with resisting arrest, possession of marijuana and possession of cocaine and served a warrant for failure to appear.
He was observed walking in the 100 block of south Detroit Street around 2:30 a.m. and a records check revealed the warrant out of Champaign County.
He entered Moore’s Cafe, 111 S. Detroit St., and three officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department converged on the front and rear doors.
The suspect exited the rear and he took off running. One officer deployed a Taser on the run, and after two shots, successfully detained the suspect.
Upon checking the suspect, officers learned he was uninjured and they recovered marijuana in one of his pants pockets.
Later, a small plastic bag with powder cocaine was found in a baseball hat he was wearing.
