WAPAKONETA — Troopers from the Wapakoneta Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol are investigating a two-vehicle crash Sunday evening that claimed the life of a Wapakoneta man.

Hiram T. Argo, 79, was operating a southbound minivan on Wapakoneta-Fisher Road shortly before 9 p.m. and failed to yield to a westbound pickup pulling a trailer on U.S. Route 33. The pickup then struck the left side of the minivan in the intersection.

Mr. Argo was pronounced dead at the scene by Auglaize County Coroner Dr. Thomas Freytag and was transported to Bayliff and Eley Funeral Home in Wapakoneta.

The driver of the pickup, Timothy J. Runk, 22, of Defiance, and his passenger, Stephen M. Runk, 29, also of Defiance, each was transported by St. John’s Fire Department to Lima Memorial Hospital for non-incapacitating injuries.

All occupants were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash and alcohol is not suspected as a factor.
