Simon Kenton Pathfinders have to date raised $203,349.13 of the local share of the $300,000 required to fund a 16-mile extension of a bike path from Urbana into Bellefontaine.
Mary Rutan Foundation recently donated $50,000 to the cause, as previously reported in the Examiner. A photo of the check presentation appears online at www.examiner.org.

Tammy Allison, Mary Rutan Foundation COO, presents a check to Simon Kenton Pathfinders’ President Nancy Lokai-Baldwin for $50,000.00, to assist in the extension of the Simon Kenton Trail from Urbana to Bellefontaine. The City of Bellefontaine has been awarded a $500,000.00 grant from the Clean Ohio Trails Fund with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources for the construction of 16 mile extension of the Simon Kenton Trail, starting at the end point of Phase 1 in the city limits of Urbana. The Pathfinders have been raising the funds needed for the required match of 25%..
