Daniel L. Matheson, 36, of Columbus, was charged with three counts of burglary Friday morning after he allegedly broke into three mobile homes at Lake Ridge Resort, 8951 State Route 368, Huntsville.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office responded to the mobile home park about 4:30 a.m. on a report from neighbors who saw someone breaking into residences.
When they arrived at the scene, deputies observed that someone was using a flashlight in one of the homes. When they went to that mobile home, they observed Mr. Matheson inside and talked with him through the door.
They noted that he was holding a pry bar and a flashlight.
Mr. Matheson reported he had recently been residing with his stepfather at the mobile home park at Lot 84D. He said he had been drinking that night and decided to break into some trailers for an “adrenaline rush.”
The defendant allegedly broke into mobile homes at lots 4A, 9A and 10A using credit cards or the pry bar to open the doors. Damage was observed to the doors of those homes.
Mr. Matheson was arrested and transported to the Logan County Jail.
Deputies are making contact with the homeowners to determine whether any items were taken from the residences.
