SPRINGFIELD — Troopers of the Springfield Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol say four people sustained non-life threatening injuries about 7:30 a.m. Friday when some 14 vehicles crashed in a pileup on eastbound Interstate 70 west of State Route 41.
The injured were transported to Springfield Regional Medical Center.
Troopers report that dense fog combined with a traffic slowdown near the exit for S.R. 41 and a large flea market contributed to the crashes. Eastbound I-70 and the ramp to S.R. 41 were shut down for about four hours.
The pileup also reportedly involved three commercial vehicles.
Springfield Fire and EMS, Harmony Township Fire and EMS, Ohio Department of Transportation, Emergency Management Agency and the Clark County Sheriff’s Department assisted at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
