Western Intermediate School conducted its mini Relay for Life on Wednesday, with morning and afternoon sessions that began with kickoff speeches by cancer survivors, Terri Schneider and Miriam Baier, and laps around a track adorned with placards bearing the names of those affected by cancer. More than 300 of the signs were purchased, organizers said. A variety of games and activities were available to play with earned tickets, and items were available for purchase. The event was coordinated by Tammy Overholser, the school’s librarian, with assistance from Acrux. FRONT PAGE PHOTO: Duke Leeper tries his hand at horseshoes.
