Two men were arrested after robbing a store less than a block from their residence around 4:45 p.m. Monday.
Charles E. Bray, 30, of 402 E. Columbus Ave., was charged with robbery and was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
His roommate, Kyle A. Jacks, 23, was charged with obstructing justice and may face more charges. He also was lodged in jail.
Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department report witnesses saw the two drinking large bottles of beer as they walked toward Dollar General, 338 E. Columbus Ave.
Once inside, they separated and the 30-year-old suspect approached a cashier and demanded money, claiming he would “blow your head off.” She opened the register and emptied it of cash.
Even though he was wearing sunglasses and a hat, witnesses reported the suspect had multiple piercings and star tattoos on his face.
Additional witnesses said a man matching the suspect description ran behind houses in the area.
Officers met the younger suspect at the residence and he claimed he was alone.
About 20 minutes later, officers converged on the residence again after they learned both men were inside. Within the hour, the suspects gave up and came out.
Officers obtained a search warrant from Logan County Family Court Judge Michael Brady.
The search netted clothing matching witnesses’ descriptions and note cards similar to the card used for the robbery note. No money was recovered during the search.
