Rushcreek Fire Department firefighters spray water toward hot spots at a Friday morning fire at George Adelsberger’s 5224 County Road 26 property. Logan County Sheriff’s dispatch radio traffic around 10 a.m. indicated the fire started with a lawn mower inside the 1,440-square-foot pole barn. The fire quickly spread and destroyed the barn. Rushcreek was assisted by firefighters from Perry Township, Bokescreek and Tri-Valley fire departments. Greg Norris with Rushcreek estimates the building alone will cost at least $25,000 to replace. He said the garden tractor was fully engulfed in flames when he arrived and the fire was starting to spread up a wall. It spread quickly, fueled by normal items kept in a garage such as fuel, oil and paints. EXAMINER PHOTO | JOEL E. MAST
