Conduct during jail booking leads to additional charge

Trenton E. Mathews, 32, of 413 E. Sandusky Ave., Bellefontaine, was charged with persistent disorderly conduct Saturday following his booking into the Logan County Jail on a Logan County Common Pleas warrant.

Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office report that Mr. Mathews was placed in a holding cell about 10 p.m. He then reportedly was observed repeatedly flushing a toilet in the cell.

When questioned about his actions, he became belligerent, and a short struggle ensued with deputies. Mr. Mathews was then placed in a restraint chair.

During the altercation, the defendant was found to be in the possession of several white pills.

A report will be forwarded to the Logan County Prosecutor’s Office relating to possible charges of the illegal conveyance of drugs into a detention facility and possession of drugs.
