Curly’s Custom Meats of Jackson Center received grand champion honors for its beef summer sausage at the recent Ohio Association of Meat Processors Product Competition.
The beef summer sausage is consistently one of the most highly contested classes because of the national popularity of the meat snack.
A total of 32 meat plants from around Ohio were represented at the competition.
Curly’s summer sausage is available in original or with cheese and jalapeño flavors at its store in Jackson Center or pickup can be arranged at Curly’s Meat Farm along State Route 508 near West Liberty. The business plans to make its products available in local retail stores.
West Liberty resident Larry Edwards is the owner and president of Curly’s Custom Meats, which is a USDA-inspected facility.
