2 girls flown after ATV crash

Two girls were transported by MedFlight helicopter to Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus for injuries sustained in an all-terrain vehicle crash Saturday afternoon in rural Bellefontaine.

Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office, along with personnel with Bellefontaine Fire and EMS and Tri-Valley Fire and EMS, were dispatched at 4:50 p.m. to 4645 County Road 55, Bellefontaine, in reference to an ATV crash in a yard.

Kennedy Rhyne 13, of Lithopolis, reportedly was driving the ATV, while Aspen Trumps, 12, of Lancaster, was her passenger.

The ATV reportedly struck a shrub, which caused the vehicle to go out of control and strike a metal fire ring. Both girls were thrown from the ATV.

Both Kennedy and Aspen were transported to the hospital.
