Caleb Jacobs, facing more than 3 1/2 years behind bars, apologized Thursday to the corrections officer he helped beat and to Logan County.
“I’d like to say I am sorry for what has happen,” he told Logan County Common Pleas Judge Mark S. O’Connor. “I’ve had a lot of time to think about what I’ve done including eight months in isolation.
“I know I did wrong and I deserve whatever I get. I guess I’ll have to take it like a man.
“I am sorry mainly to Deputy (Tim) Klingelhofer and to Logan County for what I’ve put you through.”
In keeping with the plea agreement, Judge O’Connor imposed a 4 1/2-year prison term.
However, the 18-year-old defendant has spent 300 days in jail, time that will count toward his sentence.
