Traffic Light Plus helps students make healthy snack choices
Area native Rob Stahler, a fifth-year pharmacy student at Ohio Northern University, has been involved in a research project that will help students make healthier snack choices on campus.
According to an article on the ONU Web site, www.onu.edu, Mr. Stahler and fellow pharmacy student Shannon Kraus, under the advisement of pharmacy faculty Dr. Michael Rush and Dr. Karen Kier, have helped to develop the Traffic Light Plus program.
Through the program, signs will be featured on all on-campus vending machines to provide nutrition information. The signs will compare snack options based on a set of criteria, including total fat, saturated fat, sugar, sodium, protein and fiber.
