The truck then overturned and came to rest just off the right side of the road. The car also went off the right side of the road and came to rest in a grassy area east of the truck.
Mr. Patton was transported by a Huntsville squad with incapacitating injuries to Mary Rutan Hospital. He was cited for failure to yield.
The truck’s driver, Justin Taylor, 24, of Belle Center, was taken by BMRT squad to St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima with non-incapacitating injuries.
Crash reports, which were incomplete as of Saturday morning, indicate alcohol was not a factor in the incident. However, troopers are investigating other possible extenuating factors.
Damage to the vehicles was severe.
The crash remains under investigation.
