A 61-year-old defendant convicted of buying and selling prescription medication for herself and other people had her petition for early release granted Wednesday before Logan County Common Pleas Court Judge Mark S. O’Connor.
Judith Haimowitz, 16134 Buckeye Drive, Belle Center, served about one year of a four-year prison sentence imposed in February 2012 for four felony counts of drug possession and trafficking. She will be placed on five years’ community control, enrolled in the probation incentive program and must undergo drug treatment and counseling.
She was the subject of a 2011 investigation by deputies from the Logan County Sheriff’s Office. The defendant sold Xanax pills to undercover deputies on multiple occasions. A search of her property turned up 66 bottles of prescription medication.
Additionally, she must limit her prescription requests to one pharmacy.
“You can stand in line with the rest of us,” Judge O’Connor said, denying prosecutors’ requests to also limit her to one doctor because of her complex medical issues.
