Troopers of the Marysville Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol responded to two crashes involving Ohio Department of Transportation snowplows during the recent winter weather.

In the first crash about 9:50 p.m. Tuesday on the U.S. Route 33 entrance ramp from U.S. Route 68, snowplow operator Paul Newland, 34, of Bellefontaine, was cited for improper starting and backing.

Mr. Newland reportedly backed his snowplow into a car operated by Benjamin Brown, 32, of Lakeview, that had stopped on the ramp.

Both vehicles sustained light damage and no injuries were reported.

Troopers responded to the second crash about 11 a.m. Wednesday on State Route 274 near the Logan County line that also involved a semi-tractor trailer.

Clinton Armbruster, 30, of Lakeview, reportedly was operating a westbound snowplow when the blade of the snowplow struck ice and the vehicle traveled left of center, and struck the trailer of an eastbound semi operated by Elliott Rutherford III, 27, of Belleville, Mich.

No injuries were reported and no citations were issued.
