Local school districts get final report cards

After a lengthy delay stemming from a statewide data manipulation investigation, the Ohio Department of Education was finally able to release the final results of the 2011-12 Local Report Card, ranking three of Logan County’s four districts as Excellent with Distinction districts.

“Achieving the ranking of Excellent with Distinction on the (report card) is a testament to the hard work and dedication of your teachers, staff, students, parents and community,” ODE acting superintendent Michael L. Sawyers wrote to Benjamin Logan Superintendent Lori Lytle.

“We understand that the process to finalize the results for the 2011-2012 school year has delayed celebrating your success and we appreciate your patience.”

Joining Ben Logan as Excellent with Distinction districts were Bellefontaine and Indian Lake schools, with Riverside earning an Effective rating.

“We’ve come a long way in the past three years,” Bellefontaine City Schools Superintendent Beth Harman said at a previous board of education meeting when officials announced the new rating. The district’s rating has improved from “effective” in the 2009-10 school year to the current rating.
