West Liberty-Salem’s middle school Science Olympiad logged six top-five finishes Saturday at its host invitational.
Approximately 1,200 students, parents and community members from 28 schools spanning four states converged on West Liberty-Salem schools for the fifth WL-Salem invitational.
Results for WL-Salem middle school participants were:
• Michael Price, Raajih Roland and Connor Motzko, 1st — Mission Possible;
• Zach McCall and Chloe Spencer, 2nd — Boomilever;
• Andrew Landis and Connor Motzko, 4th — Helicopters;
• Becky Wilkins and Rachel Hostetler, 4th — Water Quality;
• Tyler Motzko and Zane Woodruff, 5th — Helicopters;
• Nathaniel Benedict and Connor Motzko, 5th — Rocks and Minerals;
• Rachel Hostetler and Andrew Landis, 6th — Write it, Do it;
• Rachel Hostetler and Becky Wilkins, 7th — Boomilever;
• Aiden Smittle and Rachel Hostetler, 9th — Food science; and
• Ian Higgins and Nathaniel Benedict, 10th — Meteorology.
The WL-Salem high school team did not participate because it organized the event. WL-Salem Science Olympiad teams compete again March 16 at the Piqua Regional.
