Driver charged in hit-and-run crash
CINCINNATI — Lauren Balint, 21, of Cuyahoga Falls, has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident, a felony charge, in connection with the death early Sunday morning of Christopher Walker of Bellefontaine.
The 21-year-old University of Cincinnati student was struck by a vehicle while crossing Interstate 71 near the William Howard Taft Road entrance and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Published reports have indicated Ms. Balint was driving the car, which was found later unattended at a gas station along Montgomery Road.
Investigators have said alcohol was suspected as a factor in the crash, but by the time Ms. Balint was found, police say it was too long after the accident to determine whether she had been drinking.
The car was registered to William Suddeth, 26, who was a passenger in the vehicle, along with Kate Ginnocchio, 25, and Julian Krusley, 23.
The owner of the vehicle has been cited for allowing the operation of a vehicle without insurance, and on an outstanding traffic charge out of Mariemont.
Investigators still seek information about the victim and the people in the car and ask people to call (513) 352-3040.
