The lone occupant of a sport utility vehicle managed to escape before fire engulfed the vehicle during an 11:40 a.m. Wednesday crash, deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office report.
Corsie Varian, 36, of West Mansfield, was operating a southbound SUV that drove off the right side of the roadway, then crossed the road and went off the left side, overturning, and then catching fire.
Ms. Varian was transported by Bokescreek squad to Mary Rutan Hospital.

Resident Shekina Oliver said she witnessed the crash, but it was too fast to tell what happened. “I helped her, held her hands to try to get her out the back,” Mrs. Oliver said. “Another woman came along and helped get her out, too, but it had already started catching fire.”
Rushcreek Fire Department also responded to the scene. The crash remains under investigation.
