Nearly 200 area friends of beef gathered Wednesday for the annual Logan County Cattle Association Banquet at Indian Lake Middle School, where the Bellefontaine Examiner was honored with the 2013 Friend of Beef award.

Ohio Cattle Association District 5 director and vice president Frank Phelps spoke about some of the effects of estate tax allowance and other legislative changes on the industry, and D. Rae King shared facts about the county Born & Raised program at the Logan County Fair.
The association also recognized Joel Penhorwood, Jill Wildermuth, Troy Hall and Hillary Jackson as its 2012 scholarship winners.
Guests were entertained by the Benjamin Logan High School Jazz Band while dining on prime rib.
