Firefighters from Indian Joint Fire District called in backup for a fire atop a Honda Transmission Mfg. structure just after 10 a.m. Sunday.
A contractor working on an older-model air handling unit — where the blaze originated — on the roof sustained minor burns to his arm. The man refused transport, according to Indian Joint personnel.
Bellefontaine firefighters responded with a ladder truck, along with emergency personnel from Huntsville and Lakeview, and an Indian Lake squad.
Firefighters already on scene were able to douse the fire without the use of the city ladder unit.
Honda spokesman Ron Lietzke said damage to the plant was minor, and he doesn't expect any production delays.
All HTM associates should plan on working their normally scheduled shifts, Mr. Lietzke noted.
Some associates were working in the casting department at the time of the fire.
Damage estimates were not immediately available. Fire crews were on scene for about two hours.
