Local man claimed in I-270 crash

COLUMBUS — A Bellefontaine man was killed after crashing his vehicle about 3 p.m. Sunday on I-270 just south of I-670 in Columbus.

Christopher D. Vance, 43, was ejected from his northbound pickup truck after it drifted into the median, and struck the guardrail, then a concrete support post for an overpass, before flipping several times and landing on top of him, the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office reports.

Mr. Vance, a 1988 graduate of Bellefontaine High School, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver was not wearing a seat belt. Alcohol or drugs are not suspected, but the crash remains under investigation.
