Additional hours of sheriff’s department patrol may be sought
Lakeview Village Council at a regular meeting Monday cooled on talks to reinstate a local police force.
Echoing sentiments they say were shared with them by various community residents and businesses, members of council said they instead believe the village should renegotiate its contract with the Logan County Sheriff’s Office to add more hours per week of deputy patrol.
One idea floated by council involved partnering with Stokes Township to contract with the sheriff’s office for 40 patrol hours per week. Such an arrangement may even allow the sheriff’s office to dedicate a specific, full-time deputy for patrol around Lakeview and Stokes Township areas, council said.
