Deputies report Michael Smith, 23, of Sidney, was driving a westbound car on S.R. 47 when he lost control and went off the right side of the road. The vehicle then traveled into the school's yard, sideswiped the concrete base of a light post and struck a tree before coming to rest.
Mr. Smith was transported by a MedFlight helicopter to Grant Medical Center in Columbus.
Reports indicate the driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, has a medical condition that may have contributed to the crash. Deputies said Mr. Smith lost consciousness while at the scene.
Rushcreek Township Fire and EMS assisted at the scene.
Investigation continues.
