Future City project recognized

‘Rookies of the Year’ award earned

The Indian Lake Middle School sixth-grade gifted/enrichment class won the “Rookies of the Year” award at the National Engineers Week Future City Building regional competition Jan. 19.

A total of 24 teams from Ohio competed for the chance to go to the national competition in Washington, D.C.

The Lakers also earned “honorable mention” in the essay portion of the contest.

The competition consisted of five components: a virtual city, essay, model, narrative and presentation.
