Slippery road conditions a factor in three crashes

Troopers of the Marysville Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol responded to a report of a semi-tractor trailer crash on U.S. Route 33 west of U.S. Route 68 about 12:20 a.m. Thursday.

Dwight A. Welsh, 48, of Anna, was operating the westbound semi when he reported that he struck a black object on the snow-covered roadway, causing his vehicle to jackknife. The trailer then went off the right side of the road and came to rest in a ditch.

Troopers were unable to locate the black object.

His vehicle was blocking both the eastbound and westbound lanes of U.S. 33 for a short amount of time.

No injuries were reported. The driver was cited for failure to control.

• Juan G. McMackin, 26, of Bellefontaine, reported possible injuries in a crash Wednesday evening on U.S. 33 near County Road 5, but was not transported from the scene.

Troopers report that he was operating a westbound pickup about 9:50 p.m. when he traveled off the road and struck a median concrete barrier, a bridge concrete barrier and a guardrail.

He was cited for failure to control.

• A second crash also occurred shortly before 10 p.m. Wednesday on U.S. 33 at C.R. 5.

Dawn Marie Bitters, 42, of Bellefontaine, was operating a westbound jeep when she traveled off the right side of the road and struck a small tree.
