Huntsville officials talk post office changes

During Tuesday’s Huntsville Village Council meeting, Mayor William Jenkins talked about a recent meeting of the Logan County Mayors’ Association where rural post offices was among the topics. The Huntsville office is among other smaller locations, including West Mansfield and Rushsylvania, being considered for a reduction in operating hours, or possible closure.

Huntsville Post Office officials have set a meeting for 7 p.m. Feb. 11 at the Municipal Building, 6740 Wishart St., to discuss cutting window hours back to 2, 4 or 6 hours a day. Kea Shaffer, in attendance for an unrelated matter, said that she was the postmaster for the post office in Roundhead and very few residents showed up for their meeting, adding the importance for as many residents as possible to attend and show support for the local office.
