UPDATE: Man claimed after being trapped under van

Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office responded to 316 N. Main St., DeGraff, about 6 p.m. Sunday on a report of a vehicle that had fallen on a man.

When they arrived at the address, they found Gregory A. Smith, 50, trapped partially underneath a van in the garage area. He was pronounced dead.

It appeared that Mr. Smith had been doing repairs on the vehicle in the garage area prior to the vehicle falling on him. Family members reportedly had arrived home, found the victim and called 911.

Personnel with the Riverside EMS, DeGraff Fire Department and the Logan County Coroner’s Office also responded to the scene.
