Rebuilding the Logan County Courthouse tower is taking the county commissioners into new waters.

Commissioner Tony Core said the county is using Ohio’s design/build statute that permits selecting architects, engineers and contractors outside the normal bidding process. And safeguards set by law require the commission to take different steps toward hiring the right people.
“These are somewhat uncharted waters for us,” Mr. Core said. “In this type of project, you don’t want to just use the lowest bidder. You really want to look at their qualifications to make sure they can do the job.”
